Segmented Filamentous Bacteria (SFB)

Segmented filamentous bacteria (SFB) are known to cause pro-inflammatory effects by inducing IL-17.

However, this and other immunomodulating factors can also make SFB protective.

SFB are also involved in the maintenance and induction of FUT2 gene expression.

Segmented filamentous bacteria were also found to prevent and cure rotavirus infection.
